Ten Region 20 Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Named All-America

Congratulations to the 2022-2023 NJCAA Men's Soccer All-Americans. NJCAA Region 20 celebrates 10 men's soccer student-athletes from five-member institutions who were honored as First, Second, or Third Team All-America in their respective division.

Division I: 

Andres Javitt, Sophomore, Midfield, Montgomery, First-Team

Javitt finished his sophomore campaign as the national leader in points (59) and tied for first in goals scored (21). He was second in assists with 17, tied with teammate Sota Matsuo. Javitt had seven multi-goal games on the season and scored or assisted in 15 of the 20 contests he was active in for the Raptors. The sophomore was key in big game situations, scoring the game winning overtime goal in the Region 20 final over Harford, netting two goals in a 4-1 District semi-final win over Monroe Community College, and leading Montgomery to the upset victory over top ranked Monroe in the District final to earn a trip to the 2022 National Tournament. In 38 career games, Javitt, a Third-Team All-America honoree in 2021, has amassed 48 goals, 28 assists and 124 total points. He is perfect on penalty kicks and has connected for 11 game winners.

Kye Williams, Sophomore, Forward, Harford, Third-Team

Playing in 15 games, Williams totaled 35 points on 14 goals and 7 assists for Harford in 2022, which landed him at 11th in Division I. His 14 goals placed him at 15th in the nation against all Division I position players. Williams also played in fewer contests than most players above him on the list. A Second-Team All-America honoree in 2021, Williams ends his Harford career with 102 points, 38 goals, and 26 assists.

Division II:

Toga Katsuma, Sophomore, Midfield, CCBC – Essex, First-Team

Katsuma, a Second-Team All-America honoree in 2021 began the 2022 season garnering national attention as he was recognized as the Division II Player of the Week for September 7 – 13. Katsuma finished the season third in the Division II in points (57), fifth in goals (22), and sixth in assists (13). The sophomore tallied a point in 17 of the 21 games he was active in this season. Katsuma score a goal in the Knights national tournament contests against Heartland and Morton, earning him a spot on the National All-Tournament team. After playing in an abbreviated 2020-2021 Spring campaign, Katsuma competed in 21 games for the Knights in each the 2021 Fall and 2022 Fall seasons ending his career with 43 goals, 24 assists and 110 points.

Ethan Stewart, Sophomore, Defense, CCBC – Essex, Second-Team

Stewart's stellar defense assisted the Knights to an impressive .66 goals allowed average and 12 total shutouts during the 2022 season. Two of the shutouts came on 1-0 victories in the national tournament. Stewart also facilitated on the offensive end with four assists on the season. The sophomore defender is a three-time awardee as he earned Third-Team All-America honors in 2021 as well as 2020-2021 when the NJCAA provided a spring soccer season during the COVID-19 pandemic. Stewart's three season career ends with four goals, eight assists, 16 points and a 38-6-1 record.

Ethan Hackenberg, Sophomore, Midfield, CCBC – Essex, Second-Team

Hackenberg finished the season at 7th on the Division II assist leaderboard with 12. He also finished in the top 10 (9th) for points with 44 and scored 16 goals which was good enough for 12th. Hackenberg earned a point in 15 of the 20 contests he was active for this season. He tallied seven points in the Region 20 tournament to help the Knights secure a region title and their trip to the national tournament.

Robin Schulze, Freshman, Goalkeeper, CCBC – Essex, Third-Team

Schulze earned the final NJCAA Division II Goalkeeper of the Week award for the 2022 season when he captured the honor for the October 25 – November 1 timeframe. The award came on the heels of a six-game shutout streak. The freshman led Division II goalkeepers with a .66 goals allow average and only allowed more than one goal in a game one time all season. Schulze only allowed two goals in the final ten games and had 12 shutouts on the season.

David Diaz Guzman, Freshman, Midfield, Frederick, Third-Team

Diaz Guzman was among the best facilitators in the country this season, tying Hackenberg of CCBC – Essex at 7th on the leaderboard with 12 assists. He totaled 28 points on the season including two assists in a victory over WVU Potomac State in the Region 20 semi-final. The freshman had two five-point games in wins over Hagerstown and WVU Potomac State where he tallied one goal and three assists and two goals and one assist respectively.

Caleb Pritchett, Freshman, Forward, CCBC – Essex, Third-Team

Pritchett led all CCBC – Essex goal scorers with 23, placing him at fourth in Division II. His 50 total points earned him the fifth rank in the division. Pritchett scored goals in each of the Knights Region 20 tournament games and netted the winner in the opening game of the national tournament contest against Georgia Military College. Pritchett also assisted the Knights goal in the semi-final contest against Morton.

Division III:

Sam Adams, Sophomore, Midfield, Anne Arundel, Second-Team

Adams served as the Riverhawks' center midfielder, starting all 17 games in 2022. On paper, he recorded a goal and two assists, but AACC's transition and offense went through Adams all season. Thanks in part to his efforts, the Riverhawks were one of 28 teams in the NJCAA with a double-digit goal differential (+12). In two seasons with AACC, Adams started 31 of 33 games and was never issued a card. Adams is a two-time All-Region 20 honoree, and was twice named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team.

Raphael Arias, Sophomore, Defense, Anne Arundel, Second-Team

Arias started all 16 games in which he played in 2022, anchoring the Riverhawks' defense at center back. The Riverhawks' defense allowed just 31 goals – or 1.84 per game - on the season, ranking 27th in the NJCAA. In Division III only games, AACC's goals against average dropped to 1.67. Arias also added to the Riverhawks' offense, netting two goals and four assists, including assisting the game-winning goal in the Region 20 semifinals. In two seasons with the Riverhawks, Arias started the final 39 of 40 games played, totaling six goals and four assists. He is a two-time All-Region 20 selection.
