Hawks Lose 5-0 to CCBC Essex in Region Championship Game

The College of Southern Maryland Hawks men's soccer team lost 5-0 to the CCBC Essex Knights in the Region 20 Division II Tournament Final on October 28 in Columbia, Maryland at Howard Community College.

The Hawks had to play a man down from the 30th minute on as freshman midfielder Bilal Driouich was sent off for receiving a red card.

The Knights scored in the 12th, 40th, 42nd, 49th, and 88th minutes.

The Hawks totaled nine shots and two on goal to the Knights' 26 and 12. Freshman forward Eliass Elfasoukhi recorded three shots, sophomore forward Nomen Felix Mbia Sampson and freshman defender Bryce Wilcer had two and one on goal, and freshman defender Jaidyn Raley registered one shot.

This year's championship game is the farthest the CSM men's soccer team has advanced in a season since 2014-15 when the Hawks lost 2-0 to CCBC Essex in the Region XX Division I championship game.

The Hawks end their 2023-24 campaign with a 12-5-2 overall record and a 6-2-1 Region 20 Division II record.
