HCC volleyball improves to 3-0 in conference

Brooke Crawford had 12 kills for Hagerstown Community College in its 27-25, 25-19, 25-18 sweep of College of Southern Maryland on Monday to improve to 3-0 in the Maryland JUCO Conference and 3-3 overall.

Mallory Jackson had 11 kills and Alexis Stoner had 38 assists for the Hawks.

James Buchanan 3, CD East 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Rachel Manikowski had nine kills for James Buchanan in its 25-14, 25-22, 25-13 sweep of Central Dauphin East on Monday.

Also for the Rockets, Mackenzie Layton had 11 assists, Jenna Mongold had eight aces and Alyssa Blair had six digs.

Big Spring 2, Greencastle 0

NEWVILLE, Pa. — Alyssa Gaus made 15 saves for Greencastle-Antrim in a loss to Big Spring on Monday.

Brooke Roberts and Sami Meacock each scored in the first half for Big Spring.

Abbott earns PSAC weekly honor

Bloomsburg University junior kicker Ryan Abbott, a Saint James graduate, was named the PSAC East Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

On Saturday, Abbott made a career-high three field goals (from 30, 35 and 33 yards) and notched two extra points in the Huskies’ 29-20 victory over Clarion.

Rams ranked 4th in AFCA Poll

WACO, Texas — Shepherd University is ranked fourth in the latest American Coaches Football Association NCAA Division II Coaches’ Poll, released Monday.

The Rams (1-0), who were idle last weekend, return to action Saturday when they travel to Glenville State for a noon contest.
