Women’s Basketball Edged By Harford

Prince George's women's basketball saw their three game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday evening, December 18th when Harford Community College visited Novak Field House. Harford's Fighting Owls defeated Prince George's Owls by a final score of 93-62 to drop Prince George's to 7-5, including 2-4 in Maryland JUCO. Harford improved to 11-1, 1-1 MD JUCO with the win.

The Owls were able to keep close with Harford through the first quarter by forcing the Fighting Owls to foul early and often, sending Prince George's to the line. Harford, who came into the game with only two reserves, committed 6 fouls in the first period alone which the Owls were able to convert into 5 points on a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line. The Owls ended the first period trailing 19-11 but came to within 5 points of Harford in the second quarter as they brought the score to 22-17. 

Despite the Owls defensive efforts, Harford was able to get past Prince George's defenders and would head into halftime with a 46-25 lead. The Owls struggles continued in the second half as Harford continued to put the game out of reach, outscoring the Owls 47-37 over the final 20 minutes in route to 93-62 defeat. Sophomore Tatiana Garvin again led the scoring for the Owls with 19 points and nearly missed out on another double-double with 9 rebounds.

The defeat marked the first loss for the Owls in over three weeks. Prince George's will have a chance to end the year on a high note as Hocking College comes to Largo, MD on Friday, December 20th to take on the Owls in Novak Field House. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
