Thunderwolves go 3-0 at Personal Best Classic

Niagara County Community College went 3-0 at this past weekend's annual Personal Best Tip-Off Classic hosted by Allegany College of Maryland. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA Div. II preseason poll, improved to 4-0 on the young season. NCCC is next in action at 1 p.m. Saturday for the opening game of its annual Tip-Off Classic vs. Lackawanna College. 

Niagara CCC 88, Allegany College of Maryland 42

NCCC sophomore guard Faith Alessandra had 17 points, six rebounds and four steals as the T-Wolves forced 48 turnovers in a lopsided win over the NJCAA Div. I Trojans. Freshman guard Krystal Smith had a double-double (15 points and 10 rebounds) off the bench, while freshman point guard Mia Little finished with 11 points, 10 steals and four assists. Sophomore guard Tessa Schuey and freshman guard Makayla Thomas each netted 12 points and freshman forward Anaya Smith added 10 points and six boards.

Niagara CCC 60, Howard CC 55

Alessandra scored a team-best 16 points as the T-Wolves overcame a slow start and picked up the come-from-behind victory over the previously-unbeaten Dragons. Sophomore guard Emily Delisle connected on five clutch fourth-quarter free throws, while Krystal Smith finished with 11 points and eight rebounds and Thomas chipped in with 10 points and five boards.

Niagara CCC 117, Harford CC 57

N-Trip scored 60 points in the opening half and again forced 48 turnovers in a run-away victory over the NJCAA Div. I Fighting Owls. NCCC freshman guard Rachel Kamrowski poured in a career-high 27 points, while Alessandra added 23 points, six rebounds and five steals. Krystal Smith finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, freshman forward Casey Mahony notched 12 points and six boards and Schuey chipped in with 10 points.
