Top-Ranked Harford topples No. 4 Women's Lacrosse

BEL AIR, MD – Undefeated and No. 1 ranked Harford Community College defeated No. 4 Anne Arundel Community College in an NJCAA clash Monday night, 21-9. Bridgette Tayman scored a pair of goals to lead a balanced attack for the Riverhawks.

Tayman scored her pair on just two shots, and also picked up two ground balls and two draw controls.  Jacquelyn Hamelryck, Jeddica Grusholt, and Alexis Heverly also scored twice in the game.

AACC (3-2, 2-2) scored on four of eight free-position attempts, including a 3-for-4 effort in the second half. Goalkeeper Sarah Healy made eight saves, evenly split between halves. Natalie Sonntag won three of the Riverhawks' five draws on the night.

Hamelryck put AACC  on the board with an unassisted tally less than three minutes into the game, but the Owls rattled off nine in a row to take command of the game.

Harford (6-0, 4-0) carried a 16-4 lead into halftime and added two more before the Riverhawks went on a four-goal spree over the next 10 minutes to get back into the game. The teams then traded goals before Harford potted the final two.

Sarah Dudick led Harford with five goals and three assists, while five other players had multiple goal outings. Dudick also corralled 11 draw controls.

There were five cards issued in the game, including a red card to Harford's Mary Greig with six minutes to go in the game. AACC scored one man-up goal to Harford's two in the contest.

The Riverhawks continued to clear the ball well, clicking at a 9-for-9 rate on the night for an 84% season total (36-43).

AACC starts a three-game road trip Thursday with a 4 pm game at Erie Community College.
