Walton and Lewis lead Potomac State over Westmoreland

Keyser, W.Va. – Breland Walton scored 22 points and Keon Lewis 21 to lead the WVU Potomac State College men's basketball team over Westmoreland CCC 131-74 Thursday evening in NJCAA Region XX action at Lough Gymnasium.

Sprinting out of the gate, Potomac State ran off 14 unanswered points and led 14-0 less than 4 minutes into the contest. When Lewis converted a layup at the 10:48 mark the Catamounts led 34-7. The halftime margin stood at 67-28.

In the second half PSC was able to increase their lead to as much as 59 points when they took a 99-40 lead on a Qualeke Bush layup at the 10:22 mark.

Walton's 22 points came on 9 of 12 field goal shooting and 4 of 7 from the free throw line. He had a total of nine rebounds including seven on the offensive end. Lewis also shot 9-12 from the floor and made 3-3 free throws for his 21 points.

Westmoreland high scorers were Evan Curley and Travis McCoy with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Potomac State (5-3) will square off against Howard Community College in a key Region XX match-up Saturday, Dec. 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Lough Gymnasium. Howard is ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA Division II Basketball Poll.
