Potomac State Pulls Away From Wolfpack

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - Hannah Hempfield scored a team-high 24 points and Mackenzie Markle posted 22 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double, but visiting Potomac State used huge scoring differences in the second and third quarters to pull away for an 82-56 win over the Westmoreland County Community College women's basketball team Monday evening.

The Wolfpack led 19-14 after the opening quarter due to 10 points from Markle. The Catamounts answered by outscoring the home team 28-10 in the second quarter and then 27-10 in the third period to build a wide lead and pick up the victory.

Hempfield posted a strong night on the stat sheet with 24 points, aided by perfect 8-for-8 shooting from the foul line, six assists, six steals and five rebounds. Markle's 22 points was her third time season over 20 and the double-double was her seventh of the year. Julea Claycomb had another big night on the glass with 13 boards and chipped in eight points as well.

The Wolfpack are now off until Saturday when they will host Northern Virginia at 3 pm.
