Cardinals Secure Second Consecutive Win

Cumberland, MD- The Cardinals dominated Allegany College Saturday afternoon in a showdown that would end in a score of 9-1.

After coming off a 2-1 win over College of Southern Maryland, Catonsville had all the momentum going into Saturday. With the Region XX tournament nearing, the Cardinals are looking to wrap up their season strong in order to secure a higher seed. With the win over Allegany, they help their own cause.

Seven different Cardinals would be credited for the nine goals during the away contest. The athletes would include: Anthony Maseda (2), Dyego Monteiro, Adam Lane (2), Elijah Henein, Mike Vasquez, Austin Werner, and Jorge Rodriguez.

Maseda's two goals were his first of the season. Although typically in goal, he was given the opportunity to score with five shots in the second half of the contest- after Rodriguez took over in the net.

Both Werner and Henein were quite aggressive on offense- combining for a total of 14 shots during the matchup. Each would tally a goal for their efforts.

Monteiro would tally his fifth goal of the season- which leads the team.

Eight of the nine goals would come with an assist. Lane accounted for three assists along with his two goals. Iliass Zouita, Juver Navarrete, Jermaine Tawonezvi, Henein, and Werner accounted for the remaining assists.

With only two games remaining in the season, the Cardinals are looking to lock in a higher seed for the Region XX play-in matchup on October 26th. They travel to Hagerstown on Wednesday, October 16th in hopes of using this momentum to secure another win.
