Erie baseball finished it's weekend roadtrip to Maryland with a double header against CCBC Essex in Baltimore. The Kats came up short in game one, dropping the contest 4-2.
Aaron Knuutila took the loss for the Kats. The starter went three innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out one and walking two. Vincent Grazioplene was the only Kat to record a hit, going 1-1 at the plate.
Erie rebounded in game two to defeat the Knights 7-6. The Kats were down 6-5 going into the top of the seventh inning where they put up a four spot behind a single from Jayden Ricks, a walk to Nathan Kindera and a double by Isaac Duva for the win.
The Kats accumulated 12 hits in the game. Garrett Wilson and Ronan Glassford each collected three hits while Jalen Ballard had two.
Austin Deitz earned the win on the mound. The reliever allowed one hit and no runs over one and two-thirds innings. He struck out one and walked none.
Erie is now 7-8 to start the season. They will play a double header at Jamestown on Saturday before hosting the Jayhawks for two at North Campus on Sunday.
