Cardinals mantle Lions 9-6

Dundalk, Md.On Tuesday, April 2nd CCBC Catonsville traveled to Dundalk and won 9-6.

At the end of four innings the score was still 0-0.

A double, two walks and a single that drove in two runs gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth an error put a man on third. The next batter put the ball in play and the Lions went for the out at home and did not get it. The Cardinals now lead 3-0. The Lions could not find the third out and gave up three more runs with two outs. Cardinals lead 6-0.

In the bottom of the sixth the Lions struck back. Kaleb Whitlock lead off the inning with a lead off double followed by Ivan Martinez hitting a double. A wild pitch scored Whitlock and moved Martinez to third. Charles Lebron delivered a sac fly to score Martinez. Cardinals still lead 6-2.

In the top of the seventh the Cardinals scored two more runs making it 8-2.

In the bottom of the seventh the Lions fought back. Ethan Alioto lead off with a walk. Andy Duarte hit a single. Kaleb Whitlock followed up with a double to score Alioto. A wild pitch scores Duarte and puts Whitlock on third. A towering foul ball to the first base side from Ivan Martinez scored the speedy Whitlock as the defense fell asleep on the play. Lions fighting back 8-5.

In the top of the eight a two out homerun gave the Cardinals their final run of the game making the score 9-5.

In the bottom of the eight Charles Lebron lead off with a single. Bryant Gutierrez followed up with a single and Lebron was thrown out at third on a close play that could have changed the game. Aaron Rodriguez then reached on and error followed up by a RBI double from Travis Buckmon. That was the last run of the game Lions lose 9-6.

They will finish the series Wednesday, April 24th at Catonsville with first pitch scheduled for 3:30
