Men’s Soccer Rolls to 4-0 Win Over Potomac State

Prince George's Community College men's soccer claimed a 4-0 shutout victory at home against WVU Potomac State College on Tuesday, October 8th. Tuesday's matchup was the first contest between teams since the 2016 season when both programs were competing at the Division III level.

The Owls took control early when Muhammad Sallah scored on a crashing attack in the 5th minute off a deep long ball into the box by teammate Shane Lopez Haddia. Prince George's kept the pressure on but were unable to tally another goal in the first half to enter halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Jerson Chirino extended the Owls lead early in the second half before Zico Tesheira made it 3-0 for Prince George's with another signature free kick goal placed just out of reach of the Catamounts keeper in the 64th. Sophomore Osenose Ibhagui capped off the scoring in the 83rd, recording his first goal of the year off a Messi Morales assist.

The Owls outshot Potomac State 22-4 and finished with 6 corner kicks while the Catamounts had just 1. Goalkeeper Jairo Caceres recorded 3 saves through 75 minutes of action before being relieved by Ngonya Tajong in net who closed out the game, picking up 1 save himself.

Prince George's improved to 6-2-3 with the win and are now primed to host a first-round playoff game of the Region 20 DII tournament on Saturday, October 26th. Final seeding will be determined upon completion of the regular season. Up next for the Owls is a road trip to take on Hagerstown Community College on Tuesday, October 15th at 4 PM.
