Baseball Sweeps Prince George's

ARNOLD, MD. – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team swept visiting Prince George's Community College for the first time since 2014 Tuesday afternoon at a blustery Skip Brown Field. The Riverhawks jumped out to an early lead in a 14-4 (5 inn) win in the opener, and used an eight-run third inning to propel them to a 10-2 win in the nightcap.

AACC had 13 hits across the two games, led by a 3-for-5 day at the plate from Sebastian Casanova. The freshman hit a double with four RBI on the day. Will Burchick went 3-for-6 with a double and a pair of RBI, also nabbing a stolen base late in game one. John Greenawalt drove in five runs on a pair of hits. Dyllon Barrett stole four bases in five attempts on the day while going 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBI.

Starter Shane Emerson earned the win in game one, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out two. Reliever Jack Hogan picked up the win in the nightcap after working out of an inherited two-aboard jam in the fourth and allowing no runs or hits across 1.1 innings of action.

After retiring the Owls in order to start game one, AACC racked up nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the frame tallying six of the runs with two outs.

Prince George's got single runs back in the second and third before adding on two more in the fourth.

A Donny White single gave the Riverhawks a 10-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth, and AACC walked off with the win with four runs with just one out in the fifth as Greenawalt drove in the first run, Christian Murphy scored on a wild pitch, and Rodolfo Llobet and Burchick came across on a Sebastian Casanova single to center.

After scoring single runs in the first and second innings of game two, AACC took advantage of a pair of errors and three hit batters to rack up eight runs in the third.

Prince George's scored two runs on two hits in the fourth inning, but Hogan came in with two runners on to induce a groundout to end the threat.

AACC starter Brady MacDonald struck out four in 3.2 innings, and was tagged with the Owls' two runs. Nick Rees closed out the game with two innings of hitless work.

The Riverhawks continue their homestand with a 12 p.m. doubleheader against Montgomery College on Friday, March 10.
