Women’s Basketball Bounces Back In Win Over Garrett College

Prince George's women's basketball traveled to western Maryland on Wednesday, January 29th to face Garrett College in a conference matchup. The Owls entered the contest on a two game skid, the most recent being a dramatic one point loss to Howard Community College just two days prior. Despite entering the game with only six players, the Owls were able to rebound against Garrett as they defeated the Lakers 84-57. The win improved the Owls overall record to 10-9 including 3-5 in Maryland JUCO play while Garrett falls to 4-6 on the year, 0-4 MD JUCO. The victory also marked the first time that the women's basketball team has reached double digit wins since the 2016-2017 season when the Owls finished 12-13.

Freshman Kori People led the Owls in the victory with a season-high 34 points to go along with 14 rebounds in her third double-double performance of the season. Sophomore Tatiana Garvin also recorded a double-double in the win, her ninth of the year, as she added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Garvin's tall, physical style of play has been the perfect complement to People's speed which has been used to stretch the opponents defense in creating a potent one-two punch for the Owls.

Now back above .500 on the year, the Owls will look to keep rolling when they travel to take on Montgomery College on Saturday, February 1st in another conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 pm.
