Lady Commodores Fall at Westmoreland County CC, 82-63

December 19, 2017 - The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team fell victim to foul trouble and lost at Westmoreland County CC on Tuesday night, December 19, 82-63.

LCCC was whistled for 17 first half fouls -- WCCC was called for 7 in the first half -- and the final foul total was 24 against the Lady Commodores and 14 for Westmoreland.

Sophomore forward Angel Blakely again led LCCC with 17 points.  Freshman guard Yani Pope (pictured) scored a personal season-high 12 points.  Sophomore guard Carrie Carlson and freshman guard Rose Carter each added 10 points.  Freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom was limited to 7 points, marking the first time this season that she did not score in double figures.

"We were not able to play through the foul situation," Head Coach Vince Granito noted.  "We made a nice run to get within 12 with three minutes to play but our fouls killed us."

The Lady Commodores are now 4-9 this season. Even so, the team has passed last year's win total (3) prior to the Christmas break. They will host Wayne County (MI) CC on Saturday afternoon, December 30, at 1 p.m.
