Women Close First Semester With Two Wins

Bronx, NY - The RVCC Women's Basketball Team traveled to Bronx Community College on Friday afternoon to take on the Broncos for a 2 P.M. showdown. The Lions would travel back across the George Washington Bridge just a few hours later with a 76-26 victory. Ali McGrath and Eumani Hollins each had a team high 16 points. Hollins also pulled down 13 boards, marking her 8th double double of the season. Not to be outdone on the glass, fellow Freshman Juliet Schott also snatched 13 rebounds to compliment her 13 points. All seven Lions to enter the game scored in the contest as Dyliany De Leon registered 13, Morenike Akinrefon added 12, and Zinnia Canty had 2. Precious Allah commanded the offense again as she dished out 10 dimes on the night.

Twenty six hours before their contest on Friday, the Lions hosted the Titans of the Community College of Beaver County. In a closely contested battle the Lions were able to edge the Titans for a 63-55 victory. Juliet Schott and Morenike Akinrefon led the Lions in scoring with 16 points a piece. Ali Mcgrath finished with 14 points and Dyliany De Leon had a solid all around performance to finish the day with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists.

With those two wins the Lions closed the first semester on a four game winning streak, their longest of the season. RVCC currently sits at 9-5 overall and 3-4 in Region XIX play. The Lions have two weeks off for the holiday break and will be back in action on January 7th 2020 as they host Orange County College.
