Westmoreland Finishes Out theie Schedule

Monday evening, the Westmoreland County Community College Volleyball team made the trip to Hagerstown Community College to take on the Hawks, in Westmoreland's final match of the season.  Hagerstown won the match in 3 sets, (25-9, 25-11, and 25-14). Ending the Wolfpack's season with a 6-13 record on the season, in their inaugural NJCAA Division II season.  Like the competition they faced, the team has grown tougher as the season went on.  Gaining more and more experience at the DII level.

Leading the way for Westmoreland in the match were Emily Schuck and Bryn Shearer with 4 kills each.  Skyler Durst added in 11 assists on the match.  Kylie Price had 2 service aces, while Shearer and Sarah Fulton combined for 22 of the teams 42 digs.

Looking back at the season, Emily Schuck was the tops when it came to kills on the season with 114.  Skyler Durst lead the team with 263 assists and 31 service aces. While Sarah Fulton was tops on the season with 117 digs.

As Coach Mike Palaschak now looks towards the 2024 season, he knows he has a solid group of returning players for next fall led by Freshman Skyler Durst, Emily Schuck, and Grace Fischer. Those players know that they have big shoes to fill as they says good bye to the Sophomore class of Bryn Shearer, Sydney Matijevic, and Sarah Fulton.  The three sophomores, in their two seasons, won 12 games.  This was the most wins in two years since the 2014-2015 sophomore class.  "We have seen the team grow under Coach Palaschak's guidance, and we are excited to see what happens now that he has a year of experience here at the Division II level of Competition," said Athletic Director Patrick Comer. "We want to thank our players and coaches who gave everything they had all season, and look forward to big things next season and as our students move on to their next step," added Comer.
