Potomac State women cagers outlast Westmoreland CCC

Keyser, W.Va. – Jalynn Montgomery scored 28 points and pulled 12 rebounds to lead WVU Potomac State College past Westmoreland CCC, 68-59, Thursday evening in NJCAA Region XX women's basketball action.

Montgomery's game-high 28 points came on 11-29 shooting, 3-5 three pointers, and 3-3 free throws. She led the Catamounts in rebounding with 12. Joining Montgomery in double-figures for PSC were Alexis Turner with 13 points and Danijah Allen with 11 points. Turner dished out a game-high seven assists.

Westmoreland (2-6) held a 10-9 lead after the first quarter. Potomac State returned the favor, outscoring the Wolfpack 26-24 in the second quarter to hold a 36-35 halftime lead.

The third quarter proved to be the difference as the Catamount defense held WCCC to 1 of 15 field goal shooting and Potomac State outscored the Wolfpack 12-4 for a 47-38 lead. The teams matched each other evenly at 21 points apiece in the fourth quarter, final score 68-59.

Potomac State (3-4) plays host to Region XX Division II opponent Howard Community College (8-3) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1:00 p.m. at home in Lough Gymnasium.
