Walton leads Potomac State over CCBC Dundalk 98-95

Keyser, W.Va. – Breland Walton scored 29 points and pulled 18 rebounds, both game-highs, and led Potomac State College to a 98-95 win over CCBC Dundalk Friday night in NJCAA Region XX Division II basketball action at Lough Gymnasium.

Potomac State, 3-0 and ranked No. 8 in the most recent NJCAA National Division II poll, established a lead mid-way through the first quarter and used their high-powered offense to outpace Dundalk the rest of the way. The halftime score stood at 45-41 in favor of the Catamounts.

Walton's 29 points included 10-17 shooting from the field and 9 out of 12 from the foul line. He was joined in double figures by Catamounts Corey Allision (19), Anthony Clendenin (12) and Cortney Walton (11).

CCBC Dundalk, receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division II National Rankings, entered the game undefeated. Their record now stands at 5-1.

The Lions balanced attack kept them within striking distance all night. Mohamed Bondu led the Lions with 22 points on 7 of 16 shooing (3-5 three-point range) and 5 of 10 free throws. He collected a team-high 10 rebounds. Malik McCormick had 17 pts and a game-high 11 assists. Jayson Mouzon had 12 pts and Tyshaun Walker 10 points for the Dundalk.

The Catamounts put their No. 8 ranking and undefeated record to the test Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Lough Gymnasium when they host Penn Highlands Community College.
