No. 3 Onondaga Topples Women's Lax

Arnold, MD --  The No. 2 Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team suffered its first NJCAA loss of the season, falling to No. 3 Onondaga Community College, 20-15, Saturday at Siegert Field.

Madison Shaner led the Riverhawks with a career-high seven goals on nine shots, scoring three via free position. Savannah Reitz added four goals on six shots, while Autumn Foster-Fields scored twice. Oriana Crowley had a goal and two assists, and Eva McCormick scored a goal and assisted another.

On the day, AACC went 7-for-10 in free position attempts. 

Onondaga doubled up the Riverhawks in the first quarter, 4-2, before AACC scored four of the first six goals of the second quarter to tie the game on a Foster-Fields free position shot with 3:30 left in the half. Onondaga's Natalie Clere scored back-to-back goals to make it 8-6, before the teams traded goals to go into halftime seeing the Lazers lead, 9-8.

The teams combined for 12 goals in the third quarter, seeing Onondaga lead by as many as four and ending the quarter with a 16-13 advantage.

The Lazers opened the fourh quarter with four-straight goals to extend their lead to seven, but AACC scored the final two goals to cut it back to a five-goal deficit.

AACC goalkeeper Kaitlyn Evans made nine saves on the day.

Onondaga held a 25-15 advantage in draw controls. Crowley led the Riverhawks with six draws.

AACC hosts a pair of top-five teams this week, first facing No. 1 Harford at 4 pm Tuesday, then welcoming No. 4 Monroe for a 12 pm game Sunday, April 10.
