Hawks enter final week of season 11-3-0 overall

Hagerstown Community College Women's Soccer is posting it's most successful season in program history, and as the season has unfolded, many program "firsts" have been achieved. "The team has been focused, taking advantage of scoring opportunities," commented Coach Clifton Williams. "I have been challenging them to each take their game to another level, and we as a coaching staff have been emphasizing the importance of increasing our level of play in MDJUCO conference games. Looking at how they've played, the team has truly responded to the call."

Last week the Hawks added three more wins to their overall schedule, and following the win over the Montgomery Raptors on October 5th, (a first in program history), Hagerstown is 5-2-0 in conference play. Hagerstown's October 7th 3-0 win over the Christendom Crusaders in Front Royal, VA was controlled by the Hawks from start to finish. Hagerstown had the offensive advantage in the first half of the match, with shots on goal in favor of HCC 9-3. The defense stepped up in the second half with goalkeeper, Sydra Royer (33) posting her first shut out with a total of seven saves.

Traveling to Frederick Community College on Tuesday, October 10th, the Hawks offense led by Kadenn Martin (34) with 2 goals and one assist, Alexis  Linetty (2) with 2 goals and two assists and Kayda Shives (4) assisting Madison Ellis (25) who came off the bench to score, totally over-powered Frederick. Royer posted her second shut out of the season as the Hawks handled the Cougars 5-0.

Another Hawks "first" came with the October 12th win over the Howard CC Dragons. Shives and Martin dominated the first half of the match with Shives scoring unassisted at the game start, and Martin scoring at eleven minutes, assisted by Shives, and then again at fourteen minutes off of a feed from Kirstin Eichelberger (10). Martin kept up the pace in the second half finding Serenity Anderson (21) for a score, and then scoring her third goal off an assist by Shives at the eighty minute mark. Howard scored their only goal in the seventy-third minute of the match, with the final score in favor of Hagerstown 5-1.
