Delaware County Drops Two at Home to College of Southern Maryland

Delaware and Chester Counties, PA - Offense was once again hard to come by as the Delaware County Community College baseball team hosted College of Southern Maryland Saturday afternoon.

The Phantoms (1-19)  ended up on the wrong side of the home doubleheader as they fell to the Hawks, 13-0, in Game 1 before Southern Maryland completed the sweep with a 20-1 victory in Game 2.

DCCC continues to not back down from playing any opponent as the Hawks (17-23) are a Division II member of National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX.

The Hawks' pitchers made life difficult for DCCC in Game 1. The Phantoms had three hits with Gabe Palandro, Maximillian Curley, and Jake Miller each registering one.

Cidrick Navas pitched five innings in the loss.

The second game of the day saw Southern Maryland pitchers Chase Bart and Rylan Langley combine to limit the Phantoms to four hits and one run. Palandro tallied two hits, while Curley and Steven Orfanelli had one each.

Orfanelli accounted for the lone RBI while Izaah Perocier scored the run.

Hunter Whitten took the loss on the mound.

DCCC looks to get back into the win column on Tuesday as it travels to Union College for a single nine-inning game beginning at 3 p.m.
