Men’s Basketball: Potomac State’s strong second half sinks Catonsville in opener

Catonsville, Md. – The Potomac State College men's basketball team used a strong second half performance in their season opener to beat the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals 103-84 Saturday afternoon at Catonsville.

Potomac State, ranked No. 10 in the current NJCAA Division II Poll, opened the game fast and led 18-7 when Keon Lewis converted a layup at the 14:46 mark. Catonsville responded by wrestling away control of the momentum and slowly building a lead that stood at 46-41 at halftime.

The second half and ultimately the game would belong to the Catamounts as they outscored the Cardinals 62-38 after the break. 

Corey Allision led the Catamounts with 28 points on 11 of 18 shooting, including 5 of 9 from 3-point range. Cortney Walton added 26 points on 9 of 14 shooting hitting 6 of 10 three pointers and Lewis finished with 22 points. Breland Walton had a game-high 10 rebounds for PSC.

Catonsville was led by Andre McFadden who turned in a game-high 30 points. John McNeal added 20 points for the Cardinals.

The Catamounts (1-0) open their home schedule on Monday at 7:00p.m. at the Lough Gymnasium when they host Butler County Community College.
