Tribunes Soar to 7-0 Triumph Over Riverhawks
ARNOLD, MD - Monroe Community College (MCC) delivered yet another dominant performance, this time against the Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) Riverhawks, in a resounding 7-0 victory. This win propels MCC's record to 6-1-0 overall and 2-0 in their conference, while AACC falls to 4-3-0 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The Tribunes set the tone early, with Kayla Baca finding the back of the net in the 13th minute, assisted by Mallory Johnson (Henrietta, NY). The momentum continued as Emily Parker (Scottsville, NY) scored in the 31st minute, followed by Olivia Paterniti's (Alleghany, NY) goal just before halftime, giving MCC a commanding 3-0 lead by the break.
The second half saw MCC further assert their dominance. Sofia Martins (Lisbon, Portugal) scored in the 48th minute, with Sam Cipolla (Rochester, NY) adding another in the 49th minute to make it 5-0. Nicole Cruz (Gananda, NY) got in on the action with a goal in the 87th minute, and Parker completed the scoring in the 89th minute with her second goal of the game.
MCC's offense was relentless, firing off 27 shots and placing 15 on target. In contrast, AACC managed only four shots with just two on goal, unable to break through the solid defensive line of MCC. Goalkeepers Luciana Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) and Clare Boesel (Palmyra, NY) shared the clean sheet for MCC, combining for two saves. AACC's Holly Wall, despite making eight saves, was overwhelmed by the sheer number of shots.
The match also saw three yellow cards for MCC, but they maintained their composure and kept AACC scoreless. MCC's victory underscores their strong start to the season and highlights their offensive prowess and defensive resilience.
After a dominant weekend on the road, the Tribunes will try and defend their home turf when they take on Harcum College on September 20th.
