CATONSVILLE SOFTBALL CELEBRATES SOPHOMORE DAY WITH A NO-HITTER AND A DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP

Catonsville, Md. – Monday, April 8, 2024, sophomore Kayleigh Rishel and freshmen Ellora Edquist combined for a double header no-hitter sweep against visiting team Westmoreland, where the Cardinals celebrated the achievement of six student-athletes. Before the game, the Cardinals honored their six sophomores:

Coach Jeff Galbreath told the sophomores, "Thank you! Thanks for your hard work, your dedication, your leadership, your talents, your growth, your sportsmanship, and your grace. I have enjoyed being a small part of your lives. Thank you for the privilege and the opportunity to coach you all for the last two years."

The Cardinals also honored the coaches, the players' family and friends, and outgoing athletic trainer Abbie Miller. Good luck to our Cardinals' sophomores as they fly the nest!

In game one, Rishel and Edquist combined to allow only four hits and two walks. They struck out seven in the five-inning game.  Makenna Archer had three hits, and Archer, Sarah Devilbiss, and Mattie Brack each contributed two RBIs. The Cardinals won game one by 12-0

Catonsville won game two by 17-0. Edquist and Rishel allowed only one baserunner (a walk) in a five-inning game. They struck out six. Sarah Devilbiss and Rachel Cox were the offensive heroes, with each contributing three hits and three RBIs.

The Cardinals still have six doubleheaders remaining in the regular season, including a final home doubleheader on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
