Brack, Heagy, and Rishel Push Cardinals Past Lakers

For the third straight game, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals softball team smashed their opponent, beating Garrett College 21-0.

Thanks to powerful performances from sophomore outfielder Abigail Heagy (Eastern Tech), freshman outfielder Mattie Brack (Our Lady of Mount Carmel), and freshman pitcher Kayleigh Rishel (Leonardtown), the Cardinals romped to another mercy-rule victory.

Catonsville opened the contest with a nine-run first inning. Leading 10-0 after two, the Cardinals continued the onslaught with a nine-run third inning. Two more runs followed in the fourth to give Catonsville a 21-0 victory.

Heagy continued her incredible season with two doubles and two RBIs. Rishel pitched a complete game, shutting out the Lakers and recording 12 strikeouts. Sophomore first baseman Felicity Voss (Catonsville) added a home run and five RBIs. The surprise of the game was Brack, who in a breakout performance recorded three RBIs, one double, and her first career home run. Other contributors included sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Brooks (Hammond) with four RBIs, and freshman Tori Bache (Northeast), Morhgan Gross (Howard), and Katie Weaver (Eastern Tech) with two RBIs each.
