MCHENRY, MD – De'Shae Lee scored 20 points to lead five Garrett College double-figure scorers as the Lakers held off AACC, 86-74, in a MD JUCO men's basketball matchup.
Garrett College posts a 9-2 conference record and is now 18-4 overall. Anne Arundel Community College is 2-10 in the conference and 4-18 overall.
Marcus Dentley (AACC) led the Riverhawks with a double-double, his fifth of the season, scoring 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jemuel Brown also added another double-double to his season stats, scoring 13 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Dentley has moved up to 5th in the conference for FG PCT shooting 58% while Brown is now 2nd in the conference for rebounds – with his average at 13.6 rebounds per game.
A powerful first half had the Lakers leading 50-32, which proved to be enough to help them secure the win. Garrett shot 48.5% (33-68) and went 9-15 on the foul line. 39 of their 86 points came from beyond the arc as the Lakers went 13-32, an impressive 40.6% for three-point shots.
Larry Stevenson also posted a double-digit night with 15 points as AACC shot 41.7% (30-72), went 7-11 at the foul line, and shot 29.2% (7-24) from beyond the arc.
The Riverhawks will host the Lions of CCBC Dundalk Tuesday, February 2nd in the Jenkins Gymnasium. Tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
