The Delta College Pioneers baseball team has embarked on their 2024-25 season, currently holding a 3-6 overall record. The team traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for their Spring Training.
Offensively, the Pioneers have accumulated 59 runs over nine games, averaging seven runs per game. However, their batting average sits at .267, with an on-base percentage of .409 and a slugging percentage of .347. Notably, the team has hit one homerun so far this season.
The Pioneers faced a tough start with a loss to Rays Collegiate, 14-3, on March 1. Following that game, later that day they clutched a 9-4 win over Ray Collegiate. On March 2, Delta competed against Morton College which resulted in a 10-1 loss and a 21-5 loss. The following day was another ill-fated day against Bryant & Stratton (OH) 10-4 and 11-8. After a day of bad weather and a canceled game, Delta defeated Westmoreland County 14-9 and 10-8. To finish out the trip, in a tight game against Lakeland CC, Delta lost 6-5.
The roster features key players such as Dom Huyck (#1), Tyler Smith (#2), Devin Schular (#3), Trevor Ramsdell (#4), and Ayden Wilkes (#6).
As the season progresses, the Pioneers aim to improve their performance, particularly in conference play, where they have yet to commence their schedule. Fans and supporters are encouraged to attend upcoming games and support the team.
