No. 8 Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 3 Nassau

ARNOLD, MD – The third-ranked Nassau County Community College men's lacrosse team dealt eighth-ranked Anne Arundel Community College its first loss of the season Saturday as the Riverhawks fell to the Lions, 14-4.

Sam Weisshaar scored two goals and added an assist, while John Thibodeau added two goals. Greg Connelly made eight saves in the first half; Hugh Edwards closed out the game with eight saves. Zach Burns played a great two-way game, collecting five groundballs and a caused turnover. Joe Threatt forced two turnovers and picked up a groundball.

Nassau jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Thibodeau potted an unassisted tally at 8:46 of the first. The Lions scored four more before AACC scored again, this time a Weisshaar unassisted strike with 2:42 left before halftime.

AACC struck first in the second half, using a Thibodeau from Weisshaar man-up goal to make it 8-3 in favor of the visitors. Nassau rattled off the next six goals, and the Riverhawks closed out the game on a Weisshaar unassisted tally with 5:08 left in the game.

The Riverhawks finished the day 1-for-3 in man up opportunities, while holding Nassau scoreless in four extra-man opportunities.

Nassau commanded the faceoff x, finishing the day 15-of-21. Niles Tinsley went 4-for-6 for AACC at the x. The Lions picked up 41 groundballs to the Riverhawks' 19.

AACC is back in action on Wednesday, March 4th in a 5:30 pm game against Mercyhurst North East at Siegert Field.
