Cardinals Fall in Region 20 Championship Game

In a back-and-forth affair, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals men's basketball team fell to the Howard Community College Dragons 74-71 in the Region 20 championship game.

A tough contest saw five Cardinals score in double-digits and the defense forced 20 turnovers. However, near-perfect free throw shooting from the Dragons along with 15 Cardinal turnovers were the deciding factor in the championship game.

The Cardinals managed to outscore the Dragons in the second half, but Howard out-rebounded the Cardinals. Catonsville kept the game within a possession to the very end, just coming up short with a potential game-tying bucket.

Freshman guard Lance Porter (Randallstown) finished as the leading scorer for the Cardinals with 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Sophomore guard Jo-Nathan Kelly (Strawberry Mansion) added 16 points, while sophomore guard Murray Grant (Obra D. Tomkins) added ten points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Micah Morgan (West Nottingham) added 12 points, three rebounds, and five assists, while sophomore forward Albright Obode (Plainfield) added ten points and nine rebounds.
