Roadrunner Women's Basketball Notches Second Straight Win, Rolling Past Anne Arundel CC

Roadrunner Women's Basketball Coach is hoping his team is moving into a solid groove. With Tuesday night's 90-63 win over visiting Anne Arundel (MD), the Runners registered their second straight win and improved their record to 5-2 heading into the Thanksgiving break.

The win featured balance scoring on the offensive side, and a solid defensive intensity that helps win games. And Cooper

"We used a lot of players on our roster tonight, and we're pretty pleased overall," said Coach Rich Cooper. "We have quite a few freshmen, so it's good to get them some playing time."

Leading the Runners' offensive attack was freshman guard Jonaysia Clark with 16 points while Nyasia Clark, Danielle Jeffreys and Riley Clark deposited 11 apiece. Forward Maxine Ampofo collected 10 rebounds to help the Runners control the offensive and defensive boards.

Three players -- Jonaysia and Nyasia Clark and Rianna Talley -- led the defensive efforts for the Runners with three steals apiece.

The Runners raced to a 21-13 first quarter and extended that margin to 47-30 at halftime. The home team outscored the Riverhawks, 43-33, in the second half.

The Runners are off until December 3 when they host GSAC and Region 19 opponent Ocean County College in a 12 noon start.
