WOLFPACK COME UP SHORT IN OPENER AGAINST ANNE ARUNDEL

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - The Westmoreland County Community College women's basketball team battled visiting Anne Arundel evenly through three quarters but the visiting Riverhawks pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure an 88-65 triumph over the Wolfpack Friday night in Westmoreland's first game of the season.

The Wolfpack built a 22-17 lead after one quarter, due in large part to Julea Claycomb's nine points in the period and Mackenzie Markle's seven. The Riverhawks, who knocked off the 10th-ranked team in the country last weekend, rallied to take a 41-35 lead at halftime and still carried a 60-58 advantage after three quarters. Westmoreland ran cold from the floor in the final period and Anne Arundel pulled away to take the victory.

Four players reached double digit points for the Wolfpack in the defeat, led by Dymond Crawford with 19 . Following her with 15 markers was Markle, while Hannah Hempfield fired in 12 and Claycomb hit for 11.

The Wolfpack and Riverhawks will play again Saturday afternoon, with tip-off starting at 1 pm.
