NORTH EAST - Cecil College baseball took a win in its first game of the 2025 season, defeating the Allegany Trojans 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Starting pitcher John Smith (1-0) looked strong in his debut, punching out nine batters over five innings of work. Colin Brosh and Hunter Sipel (Sv, 1) got the last six outs for the Seahawks in relief.
Cecil's offense did just enough to get the job done, with Franco Riposo and Gio Malatesta leading the way with two hits each. Malatesta was joined by Tyler Burger and Asher Friedman in collecting Cecil's RBI.
The Seahawks were blanked in game two, falling 5-0 to Allegany. A trio of Cecil batters split their three hits, while Trent Wolf (0-1) tossed eight strikeouts but took the loss.
