Wolfpack Drop 85-66 Decision to Hocking

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. - Tahiyr Vines posted a double-double in his first game of the season, but Hocking College used a big first half to take a commanding lead and go on to an 85-66 victory over the Westmoreland County Community College men's basketball team Thursday night.

The Hawks cashed in six three-pointers in the opening half, including a string of four straight at one point, in building a 44-28 lead at the intermission. Jakir Hampton helped keep the Wolfpack in the game with 11 first-half points to lead all scorers.

Westmoreland was never able to get the Hawking lead into single digits despite a few runs early in the second half. Eventually, the Hawks pushed their run back to a comfortable margin and held the Wolfpack at bay for the win.

Vines, who was playing in his first game of the year, was held scoreless in the first half, but had a big second half. He scored all 16 of his points after halftime and also hauled down 10 boards in the contest to post a double-double. Hampton finished with 13 points for the game, while Joel LoNigro totaled 11 points and three steals and Noah Raynor-Savage handed out a team-best six assists.

The Wolfpack will complete the weekend set with the Hawks when they travel to Hocking for a 1:30 pm tip-off Saturday afternoon in Nelsonville, Ohio.
