Hawks fall short, but battle strong

HAGERSTOWN, Maryland - In a tight-knit game from start to finish, the Hagerstown Community College women's basketball team faced the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday the 14th and did not hold back. Down just six points at halftime, they persevered to keep their opponents still in reach.

At the end of the third quarter, Hagerstown CC was down 40-46, and continued to fight all the way through, making the final score a close game of 53-59 with Southern Maryland just barely keeping their lead.

Susie Rodriguez was the top scorer of the game with a total of 17 points, Saidat Abbas with 14 points as well as 5 rebounds. The girls had a total free throw percentage of 66.7% as a team. Nineteen out of 28 of Hagerstown's rebounds were defensive, proving the Lady Hawks fought well on the defensive boards.

The Hawks next game will be at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th, at Skipjack Arena in Wye Mills,  MD versus the Chesapeake College Skipjacks. The Skipjacks have a 8-6 record and the Hawks are currently 3-9.
