Fast Start Keeps Women’s Basketball Undefeated; Warriors Top Cecil College, 83-60

BALTIMORE, Maryland ---- The nationally-ranked Massasoit women's basketball team jumped out to an early first quarter lead to secure an 83-60 road victory at Cecil College.

The win upped No. 3 Massasoit to 12-0 overall and play Prince George's Community College on Wednesday.

The Warriors outscored the Seahawks 26-9 in the first quarter as Adrianna Grant netted nine of her 12 points in the first stanza.

After taking a 46-28 lead into the locker room, Cecil came out in the third and outscored the Warriors 20-9 to pull within seven points (55-48).

However, in the fourth, Shardajah Collins and Ty Hawkins combined for 18 of the team's 28 points in the period to stay undefeated.

Massasoit showcased a strong defensive effort, tallying 23 steals and forcing the Division II Cecil program into committing 43 turnovers.

Leading scorer Ty Hawkins topped the Warriors in points again, finishing with 24, along with five rebounds and four assists.  Collins was next in the scoring department with 17 points and added eight steals and seven rebounds.

Mataya Young chipped in with 10 points off the bench in the victory.
