Hagerstown Baseball Prospers Down South

Hawks Baseball returned home from the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, Vero Beach, FL with an overall record of 7-9. Hagerstown lost doubleheaders to Shenandoah University and Cecil College prior to turning their attentions south, and proceeded to win seven out of twelve games in the sunshine state. When asked about the Florida trip Coach Jennings remarked, "I felt we should've come out of the week 9-3. Looking back, there are two games where we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we needed to come out with the win."

Hagerstown is 6th in the region (overall) with a team ERA of 5.61 through March 18th, and leads the conference (overall) with one shut out. Left-handed sophomore out of Williamsport High School, Maddux Grove leads the Hawks with an 0.57 ERA over 15.2 innings pitched. Sophomore, Isaiah Reed, a right-hander out of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, holds a 1.50 ERA over 12.0 innings pitched.

The Hawks have an on-base percentage of .403, team batting average of .253, and are 3rd in the region (overall) in stolen bases (44) and triples (5). Leading the team offensively are sophomore, Chanse Phillips and freshman, Kadin Holmes, both graduates of South Hagerstown High School. After 49 at bats, Phillips has scored 11 runs off of 15 hits, for a batting average of .306, and 12 runs batted in. Holmes has been to the plate 32 times, scoring 2 runs off of 10 hits for a batting average of .313, and 10 runs batted in.
