Slow Start Stifles Jayhawks Men's Basketball in loss to Garrett College

JAMESTOWN, NY - Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's basketball opened their home schedule with undefeated Garrett College coming to town, and a slow start stymied any chance JCC had in the 89-66 loss.

The Jayhawks found themselves in a quick 10-2 hole before Robert Russel stopped the bleeding with a layup to make it 10-4.

The Lakers kept the pressure up, taking a 25-4 advantage to the midway point of the first half.

JCC started to claw back thanks to the shooting and passing of Marcus Wynter. The freshman scored five points with two assists in a 10-0 Jamestown run to make it 25-14. He finished the game with 13 points, eight assists, and eight rebounds.

Garrett closed the half strong as the Jayhawks went to the break trailing 49-29.

The second half was more of the same, with the JCC deficit ballooning to 67-40.

Jamestown closed the gap late to make it a 23-point loss behind some shooting from Federico Foddia, who scored 13, Travis Castro had a team-high 15, and Ilyass Kaichi added 12 off the bench.

The loss sets JCC back to 1-8 on the year. It's a quick turnaround for the Birds, who are home Sunday at 3:00 PM versus Onondaga Community College.
