#3 Women's Lacrosse Knocks Off #1 Harford

ARNOLD, MD – The third-ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team held top-ranked Harford scoreless in the fourth quarter en route to a 17-14 comeback victory over the Owls at Siegert Field Tuesday afternoon. Trailing, 14-11, late in the third quarter, the Riverhawks scored the final six goals of the game to earn the Region 20 victory.

Madison Hobbs scored three goals, assisted four others corralled six draw controls, and had three caused turnovers. Elsa Skinner added four goals to go with 10 draw controls, while Savannah Reitz scored three goals, had eight draw controls and three caused turnovers. Eva McCormick was a key playmaker with a goal and four assists.

Harford led by as many as four midway through the second quarter and carried a 9-6 lead into halftime. Back-to-back Owls goals early in the third extended the lead back to four before Lacey Hinkle sparked a three-goal spree by the Riverhawks to get within one, 11-10.

The teams again traded goals before Skinner and Oriana Crowley closed the quarter with goals in the final 30 seconds to make it 14-13 Harford headed into the fourth.

Reitz scored twice just over a minute apart to tie the game and then give AACC the lead, 15-14. Hobbs found Crowley at 9:13 for her second goal of the game, and then put in the final goal for the Riverhawks.

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Evans made two key saves on free position shots late in the fourth quarter, and was a big factor in the win as the Riverhawks had only one successful clear in four attempts in the final frame. Evans finished the game with five saves.

AACC was dominant on the draw, holding a 24-11 lead in the category. The Riverhawks also went 7-for-8 in free position shots on the day and forced 11 of Harford's season-high 19 turnovers.

AACC faces another top-five opponent at home Sunday, April 10, when the Riverhawks host No. 4 Monroe at noon.
