The Westmoreland women's basketball team battled Penn State Fayette in their season opener on Wednesday night at PSU New Kensington 's basketball area. This game featured many exciting plays by the lady wolfpack as they played with termendous heart and determination. After the first quarter the lady wolfpack had the lead with a score of 19-14. Penn State New Kensington won the second quarter and took a 36-35 lead into halftime. Westmoreland continued to play hard and compete in the second half. In the end, Westmoreland just fell short and lost by a score of 66-57. It was an overall strong team effort by the lady wolfpack. Mercedes Majors led the scoring with 18 points and Makayla Boda had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Westmoreland's next contest will take place on Thursday Noveneber 10 at Point Park game start time is scheduled for 5pm.
