Seahawks Take Game Two, Sweep Howard
NORTH EAST - Cecil College softball claimed its first sweep of 2025 with a 7-5 win over Howard on Wednesday afternoon.
Briana Rebman's bat produced Cecil's offense early on. The sophomore infielder blasted a pitch over the centerfield wall to put the Seahawks ahead 3-0 in the first. Cecil was sat down in order over the next two frames, while Howard managed to tie the game.
The Seahawks took advantage of a Howard error in the fourth to take the lead. After Gianna Dougherty kept the Dragons off the board in the fifth, Cecil came back around and plated three more runs for a 7-3 lead. Sloane Tanner did most of the damage, hitting a single to drive home Dougherty before scoring herself after an throwing error.
Howard managed to score two runs in the sixth, but Dougherty would strike out four of the game's final seven batters to earn the save and another victory for Cecil.
The Seahawks are now 2-4 (2-2 Region 20) with the win.
