NCCC earns two big wins at T-Wolves Classic

Host Niagara County Community College picked up a pair of big wins at this past weekend's annual Thunderwolves Classic. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 14-0 overall. NCCC returns to action at 1 p.m. Jan. 4 at Luzerne County Community College.

No. 8 Niagara CCC 112, No. 9 CCBC Essex 77

Sophomore guard Paige Emborsky scored a career-best 33 points as the Thunderwolves won a matchup of top-10 teams. Emborsky, who earned MVP honors, finished 13-of-16 from the field and dished out a team-high six assists. Sophomore wing Cierra Harrison was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line on her way to 18 points. The All-Classic selection also had 13 rebounds. Sophomore post Aubrey Halloran added 16 points and five boards, freshman guard Alaina Forbes had 12 points, five assists and four boards and sophomore point guard Nickelle O'Neil finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Sophomore forward Molly Mahony, another All-Classic choice, had nine points and 10 rebounds, while playing lockdown defense throughout.

Emborsky went 6-for-6 from 3-point range to finish with 18 points as the Thunderwolves rolled in their final game before winter break. She also had six assists for the second straight day. Also for NCCC, Mahony had 14 points and seven rebounds, freshman wing Kennedy Izzo added 14 points and four assists off the bench and Forbes finished with 11 points, eight boards and five steals. All 13 NCCC players scored in the win.
