              The Riverhawks were unable to finish in the end of the full-match, 3-2, loss against the NJCAA DII Region XX Lakers of Garrett College this past Saturday afternoon (10/6).

              SET 1: The opening set was kept close, but the Riverhawks were able to claim the 1-0 match lead, defeating the Lakers 25-21.

              SET 2: Not allowing AACC to gain any momentum, the Lakers were able to take control of the play and take the second set, 25-16.

              SET 3: The Riverhawks continued to struggle with the consistency shown in the opening set; dropping their second set in a row to the Lakers, 25-17.

              SET 4: Now down 2-1 in the match, the Riverhawks successfully turned it around. Finishing on their attack, AACC would extend the match to five sets, winning set four, 25-18.

              SET 5: Unable to close out the match, the Riverhawks would drop to the Lakers in the last set, 15-11. With the fifth set win, Garrett would earn the match victory, 3-2, over AACC.

              Brittney Guy (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished with 27 kills, 9 digs, and 2 aces off the serve. Sylvia Frye (Severn, MD/Glen Burnie) had 9 kills, 13 digs, Kathryn Hawes (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished with 4 kills, 53 assists, and 7 digs, and Serena Hochmuth (Bowie, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) had 18 digs. Tara Gabrielsen (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) finished with 3 kills, 3 digs, and 2 service aces, Tori Cain (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) finished with 1 kill, 3 digs, and 3 service aces, and Julene Gwin (Baltimore, MD/Benjamin Franklin) finished with 3 kills.
