Cougars Clinched #1 Seed and Claimed The 2024 MD JUCO Title
FCC Cougars baseball swept the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals in the Cougars home finale of the regular season, 9-3 and 3-2. The Cougars put up seven runs in the second inning of game one to build a comfortable lead, and Jake Crawford picked up his sixth win of the season, giving up seven hits and three runs over four innings with four strikeouts and zero walks. Joey Serafin picked up his fifth save of the season, striking out four and giving up one hit over three innings.
The Cougars won game two in walk-off fashion. Zac Rose allowed five hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Connor Leard picked up his second win of the season as he helped hold off the Cardinals, pitching two and one-third innings in relief, striking out four, giving up zero hits, and walking none. Cooper Harris singled and drove in the winning run at the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Cougars their 46th victory of the season.
With the victory, the Cougars clinched the #1 seed in the NJCAA DII Region 20 Tournament, which gave them a first-round bye. The Cougars also claimed the 2024 Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference Title.
The Cougars baseball team will close out the regular season on the road at Garett College on Wednesday, May 1, with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
