No. 5 Ranked Riverhawks Take Down No. 4 Harford Fighting Owls

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College's women's lacrosse team wins their third straight game after defeating Harford Community College 17-7 this past Tuesday night. The Riverhawks are now 5-1 for the season, 3-0 in the conference.

Coming into the conference match-up, the NJCAA most recent rankings had Harford CC at the No. 4 spot, with the Riverhawks at No. 5 – but AACC showed no hesitation to the higher ranked team as Renee Ruppert found the net first, scoring off an assist from Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole.

With a relentless, and seemingly calm and collective offense, the Riverhawks found themselves with a 6-2 lead midway through the first half and controlled the pace in their favor. As the first half came to an end, AACC led 11-5 over the Fighting Owls.

The second half brought little change to the game's tempo, as the Riverhawks continued to push their offense. After advancing to a running clock, per a ten-goal lead, the Riverhawks would claim the victory, 17-7.

Ruppert finished the day with 6 goals, Emily Rowe with 3 goals and 2 assists, Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole with 2 goals and 2 assists, Madeline Szanyi and Alyssa Yates each with 2 goals and 1 assist, Sofia Michael with 1 goal and 1 assist, and Caitlin Shriver with 1 goal.

The Riverhawks also claimed 18-26 draw controls, were 12-16 on clears and out ground-balled Harford CC 21 to 18.

AACC will travel to No. 2 ranked Howard Community College to face the Dragons on Thursday March 30th. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
