Potomac State Women's Volleyball opened their 2023 season at home Wednesday evening against Harford Community College.
The Catamounts came out and took the first set 25-23 over the Fighting Owls. The first set was full of action with 26 kills between both teams and 63 total attempts. It would be a long night of volleyball for the fans as the night went to five complete sets. Set two went to the Owls 15-25 as well as the third set 19-25. The Catamounts came back in the 4th winning 25-19 which pushed both teams into the 5th and final set. In the end the Owls ended up victorius, taking the 5th 8-15 and making the final score of the night: Catamounts 2, Fighting Owls 3.
Top contributors for the Catamounts were freshman Emonie Fennel, who had 21 points and 20 kills. Fellow freshman Brinlee Harris had an impressive .579 kill % with 12 kills on 19 total attempts. Overall the Catamounts were well matched with the Owls, who recently have dropped from NJCAA Division I to Division II.
The Catamounts return to action Monday, the 28th when they travel to Baltimore County Community College for another Region 20 matchup. The game is slated for a 7:00 start.
