Women’s Soccer Defeated 9-1 Against Anne Arundel

The defensive struggles continue for the Cardinals; less than a minute into the game on Friday, they found themselves trailing the Riverhawks 1-0. Just seven minutes in the deficit was 3-0 and the momentum was all with Anne Arundel. The score remained the same until halftime but the Riverhawks were not done scoring and went on to win the contest 9-1.

In the 72nd minute of the game, a defensive mistake lead to a breakaway opportunity by Arianna Smith-Rodriguez in which she scored while being taken to the ground. The goal was Smith-Rodriguez's fifth of the season and ended a two game scoreless streak for the Cardinals. Goalkeeper, Jenna Dade, was very active in net as always and notched another game with double digit saves as she had 12 on the night.

The loss drops the Cardinals to 1-6 on the season. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, October 1st at 4:30 PM as they host CCBC Essex.
