Potomac State Overpowers the College of Southern Maryland

KEYSER, W.Va. – WVU Potomac State College delivered a dominant 80-60 victory over the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday afternoon at Lough Gym. A fast start and balanced scoring effort allowed the Catamounts to control the game from the outset, improving their record to 13-10 (5-3 in conference play).

The Catamounts set the tone early, racing to a 37-23 lead at halftime. Southern Maryland attempted to battle back in the second half, but Potomac State outpaced them 43-37 in the final 20 minutes to seal the 20-point win.

Standout Performers

  • Yanis Youbi had a standout game, leading all scorers with 22 points on an efficient 9-for-12 shooting, while also grabbing 8 rebounds.
  • Camren Wilkes filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals, providing an all-around impact.
  • Daniel Charlot was a force inside, securing a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds, including an impressive 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
  • Eugene Bryant played tough in the paint, finishing with 9 points and 9 rebounds while adding a block to his effort.
  • Jayden Motley provided a spark off the bench, knocking down 3-of-4 three-pointers to finish with 9 points.

Defensively, the Catamounts held Southern Maryland to just 37.5% shooting from the field and 21.1% from three-point range, while forcing 17 turnovers. Their dominance on the glass was evident, outrebounding the Hawks 44-29.

With the win, WVU Potomac State improves to 13-10 overall and faces Hagerstown at Lough Gym on Wednesday night.
