November 21, 2017 – The Lorain County Community College women's basketball team lost another tightly-contested home game on Tuesday, November 21, 63-60, to Westmoreland CC.

Sophomore forward Angel Blakely once again paced LCCC with a double-double of 21 points – including 12 in the third quarter when the Lady Commodores cut an 11-point halftime deficit to just two points – and a team-high 13 rebounds.  Sophomore guard Carrie Carlson (pictured) added 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.  LCCC also received 10 points and 7 boards from freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom, who turned an ankle in the first quarter and was less than 100 percent.

LCCC led, 60-59, with just under two minutes to play on a basket by sophomore forward Sami Shaw, but the Wolfpack scored the game's final four points.

Westmoreland CC won the game at the foul line, converting 17-of-22 foul shots compared to 5-of-8 for LCC.   Lorain County actually outscored Westmoreland from the field, 55-46. The Lady Commodores also committed 20 turnovers.

"Angel had a very nice game, but we had 20 turnovers and a lack of attacking the basket, yet it came down to the last possession," Head Coach Vince Granito pointed out.

Westmoreland led at halftime, 41-30 and was led by sophomore guard Kylee Surike's team-high 17 points.  The Wolfpack improves to 5-1 for the season while LCCC is now 3-5.

The Lady Commodores next action is a week from Wednesday, November 29, when they travel to Lakeland CC for a 5:30 tipoff.
