Women’s Basketball Suffers First Setback After Hot Start

Prince George's women's basketball hot start to the season has been capitalized by their powerful offensive attack. The Owls high scoring has allowed the team to record nearly 88 points per game which is good for the 4^th highest total per game in such category among NJCAA Division III women's basketball programs. After an impressive 4-0 start to the season which has included two 100-point performances, the Owls eventually fell to Cedar Valley College in Dallas, Texas over the weekend with a final score of 75-68 to bring their record to 4-1.

Head coach Tiona Harris has her team playing with a fast and aggressive style of play which has resulted in plenty of shot attempts and consequentially an abundance of points per game. The Owls have also succeeded in creating free throw opportunities, ranking second in free throw attempts per game as well as third in free throws made per game. Prince George's high powered attack has allowed four players to average over 10 points per game. The Owls have been led by freshman guard Trinity Workman who is averaging almost 15 points per game followed by the lone sophomore on the team, Tatiana Garvin who just trails Workman with 14.5 per game. 

The Owls will look to rebound against conference opponent Frederick Community College on Wednesday, November 20^th when the team travels to face the Cougars to kick off Maryland JUCO play for the Owls. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
